Overview

Samburu Game Reserve, set in the rugged and arid Northern Frontier District, is a land of raw beauty and unique wildlife. The lifeline of the reserve is the Ewaso Nyiro River, attracting herds of animals and hosting crocodiles and hippos along its banks. Here, you’ll encounter not only the Big Cats and elephants but also rare species found only in Samburu—such as the long-necked gerenuk, Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, and the Somali ostrich. This safari also offers a glimpse into the vibrant culture of the Samburu people, close relatives of the Maasai.

Tour Schedule

Day 1: Nairobi – Samburu
Meet and greet at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or hotel pick-up at 7:30am. Drive north through Kenya’s frontier landscapes to Samburu Game Reserve. Arrive in time for an afternoon game drive in search of Samburu’s unique wildlife. Dinner and overnight stay at Samburu Simba Lodge.

Day 2: Samburu Game Drives
Early morning game drive (6:15am) for the best wildlife viewing, followed by breakfast at the lodge. Spend the late morning at leisure—relax by the pool or enjoy optional activities like nature walks. After lunch, embark on another evening game drive before returning to the lodge for dinner and cultural entertainment. Overnight at Samburu Simba Lodge.

Day 3: Samburu – Nairobi
Enjoy a final morning game drive and discover Samburu’s rich birdlife with over 350 recorded species. After breakfast, check out and begin your journey back to Nairobi with a lunch stop en route. Drop-off at your preferred location in Nairobi.
